The report contains, in table form, national summary data compiled from FY 1973 annual reports submitted by all States in the administration of vocational education with the exception of American Samoa and the Virgin Islands, whose reports were not received. The data presented include statistics relating to expenditures, enrollments, program completions, teachers, and teacher training. Highlights from the tables include: (1) over $3,000,000 was expended for vocational education during FY 1973, (2) for each dollar of Federal funds expended, the States expended $5.29, (3) of the total expenditure of Part B funds, 23.5 percent was allocated to postsecondary programs and 28.3 percent to programs for the disadvantaged and handicapped, (4) total enrollment for 1973 increased 4.1 percent over 1972, (5) secondary enrollment increased 1.8 percent; postsecondary enrollment, 3.6 percent; and adult enrollment, 9.9 percent, (6) 1,601,634 disadvantaged and 228,086 handicapped persons received special services in vocational education, (7) enrollment in cooperative programs under Part G increased by 41.6 percent, (8) 243,514 teachers were employed and 91,894 received inservice training, and (9) 59.3 percent of total program completions were available for placement, and of these 91 percent were employed.
