The Future Management of Education: A Design for Its Improvement.
Myers, Spencer W.
This report explains the application of management system principles to education. The principles include (1) a statement of the major mission of the organization, (2) statements of goals and objectives, (3) a definition of the product and an identification of the factors essential to the production of the product, (4) a description of the delivery system, (5) an outline of the organizational structure including job descriptions, (6) an accounting of productivity, and (7) a data-based communications system for problem-solving and reporting. It is suggested that these related system components will result in greater productivity and efficiency, more effectiveness in quality, greater understanding, and more support that leads to individualized learning.
