The Design of Experiments and the Design of Curriculum. Stanford Evaluation Consortium Occasional Paper.
This paper evaluates current practices in curriculum design and discusses some proposals for using efficient Fisherian experimental designs to remedy certain shortcomings in current practices. Two general questions are approached in this paper: (1) how to obtain rational and empirical evidence that a basic curriculum under planning and development will do the job for which it is intended, and (2) how to establish the conditions under which a curriculum can be most effectively "installed" in a particular classroom to meet the needs of a specific teacher and a specific student group.
