Pupil Description of Teaching.
Purdue Univ., Lafayette, IN. Educational Research Center.
The Pupil Rating Scale was constructed so that elementary school students could indicate the presence or absence of a variety of teaching behaviors in their classroom. Eight separate subscales were developed: clarity, enthusiasm, difficulty level of lessons, individualization, cognitive level of instruction, variety, democracy, and control strategies. After several experimental administrations, component analysis and varimax rotation of the data revealed 53 items loading into the component Pupil Comfort. The factor loadings for this component are contained in the main report. This final scale is composed of the 53 items which reflect the Pupil Comfort dimension, plus three examples. Directions for the test administrator, a sample page from the answer book, and a scoring key are included. (Author/RC)
