Swimming Pools for Primary Schools.
This seven-chapter report on swimming in primary schools deals with the policies of local British education authorities and institutes for the physically handicapped toward promoting swimming. Interspersed throughout are comments from teachers and children. "Swimming and Education" comments on the benefits of primary school swimming programs. "Where Children Swim" discusses facilities available for the students. "Patterns of Provision" discusses strategies for providing school pools and includes a survey of types and costs of pools in various British locations. "Raising the Money" refers to various sources for financing swimming pools. "Essentials and Extras" lists auxiliary items such as filtration, footbaths, paving, and fencing. "Teaching Swimming" comments on teachers and teaching methods. "The Future" cites the apparent trend toward greater cooperation in planning swimming facilities suitable for teaching.
