Data-Bank Resource Packets.
Old Sturbridge Village, Sturbridge, MA. Museum Education Dept.
Primary sources such as diaries and census data from early nineteenth-century Sturbridge Village, Massachusetts are the basis for this set of resource packets. These supplementary packets, adaptable to various grade levels, help students explore questions about the pace of work in a rural society, the role of individuals in a farm family, community government, and many other topics. For example, the first packet includes role cards for a representative sample of the economic and occupational distribution of the 320 Sturbridge families in 1824. The second packet contains role cards for a demographically accurate sample of the households for the purpose of exploring the make-up of the family unit.
