Man must assume the responsibility of sincere efforts to preserve and improve the environment, of becoming knowledgeable about environmental facts and issues, and of reassessing his life style and priorities. This booklet is an overview of environmental problems and environmental progress. It was written on the premise that through education and the use of this education man can learn how to live with the earth. The booklet contains 22 chapters; each chapter presents a brief discussion of an environmental topic. Such topics as education, plastics, air pollution, phosphates, 1973 environmental legislation, government agencies, environmental agencies, and gardening are covered.
