Traughber, James Phillip
The primary purpose of this study was to determine whether or not significant differences existed between the responses of education faculty of six Oklahoma state colleges, biology faculty of six Oklahoma state colleges, and principals of Oklahoma high schools regarding undergraduate preparation in biology methods. The data-gathering Oklahoma high schools regarding undergraduate preparation in biology methods. The data-gathering instrument was a questionnaire which consisted of 36 statements. A total of 200 Oklahoma educators was randomly selected and asked to participate in this study; from these four populations 167 usable questionnaires, or 83.5 percent, were returned. The major findings was that increased communication between college educators and high school educators is needed so that offerings in the methods courses correspond closely to the actual needs and teaching experiences of beginning teachers as indicated by significantly different responses on 11 of the 36 items on the questionnaire.
