Maryland Community Colleges Student Follow-Up Study: First Time Students, Fall 1970.
Hurley, Rodney G.
The Maryland State Board for Community Colleges, in conjunction with the sixteen public community colleges of Maryland, has completed the first Statewide Student Follow-up Study. Conceptually, the study was designed to investigate five areas: (1) student academic and demographic characteristics; (2) student goals or primary reasons for attending community college; (3) student employment experiences; (4) student transfer experiences and performance at other postsecondary institutions; and (5) student perceptions of community college environment and services. This data is broken down into several categories and crosstabulated where appropriate. Because only 30% of the questionnaires were completed and returned, the study is constrained and limited to the respondents; it cannot be generalized to the entire study population. The study will be improved and will be continued on an annual basis for the next two years, after which time, it will be conducted on a cyclical time frame. The questionnaire is appended. (DC)
