A series symposia conducted in commemoration of the ground-breaking for the Annenberg School of Communications Building at the University of Southern California explored the ways in which communication technology can ameliorate urban problems in Los Angeles. A portion of the keynote address by Rep. Yvonne Braithwaite Burke, plus summaries of discussions on citizen information needs, computers and the citizen, communication technology and education, cable and the city, communication substitutes for transportation, and the citizen and the media are presented in this booklet.
