Getting to Know Materials. The Wisconsin Guide to Local Curriculum Improvement in Industrial Education, K-12.
Walker, Jim
The intent of this field tested instructional package is to acquaint the student with materials used by industry for the production of goods and services. Defining behavioral objectives, the course description includes a media section, suggested classroom activities, and sample student evaluation forms, as well as the basic information section. It deals with the origins of natural and manmade materials and the process industry uses when selecting a material to be used in producing goods. This process includes the consideration of the composition of materials, how the material is processed, where it is available, what it costs, what it looks like, and whether or not it will do the job it is supposed to do.
