Model for Curriculum Development and Improvement: A Resource Manual.
Neihart, Marjorie; McGuire, Erma
This model for curriculum development is dependent upon teacher involvement to be successful and is characterized by its placement of the learner and his needs at the center. The model described in this document, if it is to serve the educational needs and interests of the learner, must be carefully developed so that it is in harmony with the philosophy and educational goals of the school system. The educational philosophy and educational goals (educational skills and knowledge, social relationship, self-realization), curriculum design (content, skills, attitudes, values, and learning styles of the learner), curriculum development (needs assessment, program development, implementation and evaluation), organizational plan, and changes in the curriculum development model that were developed by the educational staff of the St Paul, Minnesota public schools are discussed at length.
