This document reports on a Cooperative Academic Planning Curriculum Development Workshop designed to discuss issues and concerns that are germane to the survival of colleges and universities with black heritage. Part 1, plenary sessions on curriculum change and improvement, discuss the predominantly black college and the demand of the new American social order and insruing a future for black colleges. Part 2, seminar on reading and its role in the academic program, presents some thoughts about reading in the academic program, historical perspectives in college reading, and the need for teacher assistance in reading assignments. Part 3, presents reports on the implementation status of the curriculum documents of 18 colleges from the 1973 Dallas summer workshops. Part 4, presents participants' postulates on ongoing curriculum development at predominantly black colleges and universities. (MJM)
