Proceedings of the LARC Institute on Automation of Libraries in School Systems (Pomona, California, September 27-28, 1973).
Axford, H. William, Ed.
Three major presentations from the 1973 Library Automation Research and Consulting Institute are included here. The first outlines the course of library automation in the preceding 10 years. The second is a discussion of the Los Angeles Unified School District's Automated Instructional Materials Handling System (AIMS), which includes materials selection, ordering, control, online film booking, textbook control, and accounting and budgeting functions. The third section describes Oregon Total Information System (OTIS)--specifically its library function in OTIS Automated Library Services (OALS). This is the chronicle of the evaluation and problems of OALS in the areas of catalog production, ordering, processing, evaluation of media, online booking and scheduling, ERIC computer searching, and textbook control. There are numerous charts, forms, and format facsimiles from both AIMS and OALS. (LS)
