Library Objectives, Goals, and Activities.
Perkins, John W.
This publication represents a new approach to the determination of public library goals. It contains objectives and goals, as well as activities relating to goals, for all functions of the Inglewook Public Library. Unique is a concept of common goals and activities which apply to three or more divisions within the library. In compiling general goals and activities, the following list of uniform headings was developed: budget; community relations; cooperation; latest developments; materials; materials circulation, maintenance, and processing; personnel; policies and procedures; records and files; reference and information; services; supplies, equipment and maintenance; and volunteers. In addition to city ordinances relating to the Library Department, Library Board, and Friends of the Library, the following Library divisions are included: extension, circulation, circulation control (registration and overdues), reference, information, serial publications and documents, children's, young adult, audiovisual, social services, and technical processes.
