The development of a competency-based teacher certification program of social studies teachers in the state of Minnesota included this conceptual framework for the major social studies disciplines. Each of the major disciplines - anthropology, economics, geography, history, political science, psychology and philosophy, and sociology - are defined in terms of scope, general goals, and basic concepts. Key concept terms with corresponding statements are provided for each discipline. The complexity of the concept statements broadens as each discipline is treated at the primary, elementary, intermediate, and secondary levels. Related documents are SO 006 086-SO 006 089. (KSM)
