The Career Data Book: Results from Project TALENT's Five-Year Follow-Up Study.
Flanagan, John C.; And Others
The Career Data Book presents data from tests and inventories administered to 108,000 individuals in a five-year followup to Project Talent, a longitudinal study whose goal is to relate the aptitudes, interests, and education of American youth to their occupational choices. The Project conducts periodic surveys on members of the sample over a 20-year period. This book is a practical resource book for counselors in career planning, providing information on the characteristics of the students while they were in high school and on the occupations they have chosen five years later, enabling the counselors to determine to what extent a particular student matches the typical members of an occupation, or group of occupations. Most of the 400 pages consist of objective data presented in the form of profiles of student interests, knowledge, abilities, and other variables. The 138 occupations chosen or entered by the students are organized into twelve career groups. A general description of the characteristics of each group is provided together with a profile combining and comparing the data in all occupations within the group. For each occupation, its characteristics and the characteristics of its members are specified. (AG)
