This report presents detailed statistics for the population of the United States on the field of vocational training, classified by various social and economic characteristics. The statistics are based on the 1970 Census of Population. The introduction contains information relating specifically to this report, including definitions. The tables present data for persons with vocational training classified by field of training according to such characteristics of educational attainment, age, sex, race, labor force status, occupation, earnings in 1969, and industry. The statistics are based on a five percent sample adjusted to represent the total population. "Vocational training" is defined as formal programs completed in high school, through an apprenticeship program, in a school of business, in a nursing school or trade school, in a technical institute, in the Armed Forces, or in Job Corps training.
