The Maladaptive Behavior Record (MBR): A Scale for the Analysis and Prediction of Community Adjustment and Recidivism of Offenders.
Barton, Marlin; Jenkins, W. O.
This report describes the Maladaptive Behavior Record (MBR), a behavioral assessment scale developed for use in a longitudinal follow-up study of released adult offenders. The scale focused upon the identification and specification of maladaptive behaviors that are associated with postrelease success or failure, and is valid for and predictive of criminal behavior and recidivism. Because the MBR specifies areas of maladaptive behavior for which intervention is needed, the data derived and validated with this scale present significant implications for community and institutional correctional programs which seek to measure and control the variables that influence criminal behavior.
