Still Pictures in the Audiovisual Archives Division of the National Archives. Preliminary Draft.
Bray, Mayfield S.
The National Archives' still picture collection contains over 5 million photographs, some of which date from the 17th century. In addition to documenting activities of 125 Federal agencies, they illustrate the social, economic, cultural, political, and diplomatic history of America from the earliest colonial times to the present and many aspects of life in other parts of the world. The photographs relevant to each government agency are described under that agency, and information is included about record group numbers, ordering, and availability. An index is also included.
