How to Organize and Run a Film Society.
Weiner, Janet
This book gives practical, step-by-step instructions on the formation and operation of film societies. Film societies or clubs are usually made up of students of films who have no commercial motivations but who strongly desire to view repeatedly the many films that are unavailable in neighborhood theaters. This book explains club organization and financing and tells how to make film selections, do bookings, and create publicity for screenings. Suggestions are given on the selection of projection equipment and on methods of setting up the screening rooms. An extensive list of films generally popular with film societies is included. Each entry notes the film title, date, short credits, and names and addresses of companies that distribute the film in 16-mm format. (CH)
