This document is the text of hearings by the U. S. House of Representatives on the Mobile Teachers' Retirement Act. The purpose of the act is stated as follows; Since the transfer of qualified teaching personnel from a school in one state to one in another is impeded by the teacher's fear of forfeiting retirement benefits, the act will facilitate the said transfer by providing federal assistance in the transfer of credits from one state to another. Included in this record is a summary of the act's provisions and the text of statements and testimony from among others, Elizabeth Berry of the Coalition for the Advancement of the Role of Women, Carl J. Mengel of the American Federation of Teachers, the National Retired Teachers Association, and the American Association of Retired Persons. (JA)
