Resulting in part from a project designed to identify and describe comprehensive programs of excellence in career education, this booklet is the sixth in a series describing current, successful career education practices. Intended for counselors, this monograph has been prepared to show the relationship between career education, career development, and career guidance and to clarify career guidance. Among the topics discussed are: (1) a definition of career guidance, including the relationship of career guidance to career development and the overall concept of career education, (2) the changing role of the counselor and strategies counselors might utilize to bring about self-change, and (3) career guidance practices, including a listing of 12 projects and 101 activities designed to stimulate students to understand themselves, their peers, and the world around them.
