Coughlan, Margaret N., Comp.
The era of the Revolutionary War has provided subject material for numerous histories and biographies. The Children's Book Section of the Library of Congress has compiled this bibliography as a guide in the selection of background reading for young people in connection with the Bicentennial of the American Revolution. Criteria for selection included factual accuracy, logical organization, and clear succinct writing. Some historical novels have been included but textbooks have been omitted. Subject divisions are: (1) The Times, (2) The Rise of Discontent, (3) A Few Hot and Designing Men, (4) Acts and Declarations, (5) The Days of Revolution, (6) Soldiers, Spies, and Citizens, (7) The Sound of the Drum, (8) A Constitution is Born, and (9) Heroes, Heroics, and Tradition.
