Computer-Based Analytic Grading for German Grammar Instruction. Psychology and Education Series. Technical Report Number 199.
Levine, David R.
A computer program is described here which will do an in-depth grading analysis of a student's attempt to produce a required German sentence. The grading program is given a description of the expected response and the sentence actually constructed by the student, the two are compared, and a complete diagnostic report of the correctness of the grammar of the student's response is provided for the teacher. The primary limitations on the program at this point are that it handles only grammar and not meaning, it can process only a subset of the German language, and the grading program has only been operated in isolation thus far and has not been included in a teaching environment.
