Hints for Survival in Open Plan Schools.
Metropolitan Toronto School Board (Ontario). Study of Educational Facilities.
This pamphlet attempts to encourage teachers and principals, currently operating in open plan schools, to define their own problems and to rely on their own perceptions and judgments in arriving at solutions. The content is also designed to help teachers (who are contemplating going into the flexible space of an open plan school for the first time) understand the variety of situations that may face them. The information was gathered largely through extensive interviews in open space schools in and around metropolitan Toronto; and indicates the tremendous variety of open plan schools (in metro) in terms of administration, teaching styles, and facility arrangements.
