The four papers in this volume of institute proceedings present: (1) a retrospective, subjective look at foreign-trained librarians employed in North American libraries and foreign students in North American library education programs, (2) statistical analyses of current policies and practices relating to the employment of foreign-trained librarians in North American libraries and the acceptance of foreign students in North American library education programs, and (3) a review of the current state of library education in selected countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and New Zealand. The papers are: (1) "The Overseas Students in Library Schools in the United States and Canada," (2) "Foreign Student Population in North American Library Schools," (3) "Should We Employ Overseas Professionals in Our Libraries," and (4) "Employment of Foreign Trained Librarians in the United States and Canada." Also included are discussions, the banquet address, and a directory of chairmen and members of country resource panels of the Committee on Equivalencies and Reciprocity, Library Education Division, American Library Association.
