Activities for the Early Development of Perceptual Skills.

This curriculum guide provides a variety of activities to develop perceptual skills in young children. Activities in the following areas are provided: (1) motor skills--awareness of self, gross motor, fine motor, orientation in space, eye motor; (2) auditory skills--attention, listening, discrimination, imitation and articulation, auditory comprehension and memory; (3) visual skills--object identification, perceptual and visual motor matching, visual discrimination, visual comprehension and interpretation, perception of space; (4) cognitive skills--learning labels, Piaget-type activities, seriation, seeing and describing relationships, forming new concepts; (5) verbal skills--using language patterns, expressing ideas, language stretchers.
