Compiled from a master list of about 300 journals and various book sources, this fifth annual selective bibliography published by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) lists 2,061 items concerned with pedagogy in modern foreign languages, Latin, Greek, English as a second language, and applied linguistics. The 1971 listing provides continuity with the Birkmaier-Lange "Selective Bibliography on the Teaching of Foreign Languages 1920-1966" and the ACTFL bibliographies of 1967, 1968, 1969, and 1970.
