Clear Purpose--Complete Commitment; A Long-Range Program to Provide Louisianians with Library and Information Services Adequate to Their Needs, 1973-1977.

The goals set forth in the State Plan for Louisiana are: (1) to enhance the usefulness and effectiveness of library personnel at every level of service; (2) to provide the public with enriched library materials and to assure more productive use of those materials by all feasible cooperative means; (3) to develop programs that will provide meaningful library service to the urban and rural disadvantaged and to racial minorities with special needs; (4) to reach more effectively and completely with library and information services the blind and physically handicapped of Louisiana; (5) to continue to support, broaden, and strengthen the total rehabilitation program of the health and correctional institutions of the state by providing and extending library service; (6) to improve library service to Louisianians through more adequate state funding for all types of libraries; (7) to provide the physical facilities necessary to develop improved library and information services for all segments of the population; and (8) to assure more effective library service through study and evaluation on a regular, frequent schedule and to devise ways to make useful the findings of such studies.
