The Report of the New York University Task Force on the Financial Emergency.
Netzer, Dick; And Others
New York University is in deep financial trouble as are other higher education institutions in the country. This was evident in 1969 when federal funds were cut, operating expenses were inflated, and student enrollment declined. In February of 1972 the president of the University appointed a task force to study the problems and alternatives of the institution. This document presents the findings of that task force and presents a plan for financial solvency that must be implemented immediately in order to be effective. The plan takes into account improving the financial performance of the individual academic units, reductions in the cost of central services, prospects for additional income, and the rules, structures, and procedures for implementing the plan.
