Financial Statistics of CPB-Qualified Public Radio Stations: Fiscal Year 1970.

Financial statistics for fiscal year 1970 are reported for 91 public radio stations which meet the requirements for CPB (Corporation for Public Broadcasting) general support grants. The statistics are for the aggregate United States, classified by geographic regions and types of licensees. Total income for radio operations for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1970 for the radio stations in the aggregate United States reached almost $9.4 million. The direct operating costs and capital expenditures for radio operations were $8.6 and $1.1 million, respectively. CPB-qualified public radio stations varied widely in their income, operating costs, and capital expenditures. The median amount spent for direct operating costs for radio operations was $74,838. The median amount spent for capital expenditures for radio operations was $2,900. The median income for radio operations was $81,441.
