Nashville Concentrated Employment Program: Literacy.
Buktencia, Norman A.
A program explored the incidence of dyslexia among disadvantaged adults hampered by inadequate reading skills but enrolled in basic education courses through the Concentrated Employment Program (CEP). The purpose was to develop a screening and evaluation program, develop and apply remedial methods of instruction, and train the CEP staff to take over screening, remedial instruction, evaluation and followup. A screening and evaluation process was evolved, the curriculum was revised and the CEP staff were reaching a promising point when the program had to be terminated. (Author)
