Techniques for Teaching Disadvantaged Youth in Vocational Education.

Developed through a college curriculum department, this publication provides vocational teachers with a practical reference on problems relating to educating disadvantaged students. The underlying theme is that the teacher is the major factor in the success of any program for the disadvantaged. Several aspects of the problem are considered, including: (1) identification of the disadvantaged and their needs, (2) motivation, (3) teacher student relationship, (4) counseling, (5) grouping disadvantaged students, (6) curriculum, (7) teaching methods, (8) program evaluation, and (9) available federal resources.
