Designed to serve as a reference and resource, this publication contains ideas and information to help teachers modify content and teaching methods to assist students in coping with the changing marketplace. Part 1 of the guide lists educational objectives for these major content areas: (1) The Consumer and the Economy, (2) Values and Goals, (3) Occupation and Income, (4) Management of Resources, (5) Economic Choices, (6) Advertising, Selling Aids, and Motivators, (7) Buying Goods and Services, (8) Housing, (9) Insurance Protection, (10) Savings and Investments, (11) Taxes, (12) Consumer Grievances, Information, Credit, Protection, Rights, and Responsibilities, and (13) The Consumer and the Environment. Part 2 provides general suggestions for adapting programs to meet student needs as well as specific suggestions for adapting to cultural differences, age differences, differences in learning ability, and differences in economic characteristics. Part 3 offers several questionnaires, surveys, and opinionnaires to use in identifying, motivating, and evaluating students. Parts 4 and 5 contain a bibliography of readings and a glossary of consumer terms. (SB)
