Behavioral Intervention in Human Problems.
Rickard, Henry C., Ed.
A wide range of successful behavior modification programs, geared toward improving the status of individuals with problems in personal and social adjustment, are examined in this book. The authors of the 16 chapters are psychologists and mental health coordinators. The book is comprised of five sections. Section I is an overview of the programs for modification of behavior through the control of consequences of behavior, and the development of behavior modification programs from 1950 to 1968 are tabulated. Section II describes behavior modification programs designed to increase socially desirable behavior and to weaken socially undesirable behaviors in children in the home and school environment. Section III presents two programs for emotionally disturbed children. Section IV presents a variety of programs aimed toward the rehabilitation of the legal offender, and Section V includes programs of behavior control with institutionalized adults and children who present severly disturbed patterns of behavior. Summary comments are given at the conclusion of the book. A list of authors is provided, as are references and an author index. (Author/DB)
