Bureau of Adult, Vocational, and Technical Education (DHEW/OE), Washington, DC. Div. of Vocational and Technical Education.
The information presented in this report is taken from annual vocational education reports submitted by the states and includes data from the major cities. Population data are taken from the 1970 Census Report. The purpose of the material is to give some indication as to the states' population served by vocational education in the major cities and the expenditures that were made for vocational education. Conclusions drawn from the tabular data include: (1) A comparison of vocational education enrollment with population reveals that the percentages of enrollment in major cities fall behind the percentages of population. In 25 cities, the enrollment percentage is less than the population percentage. (2) A comparison of Federal expenditures with population reveals that 25 cities expend a lesser percentage of the state's Federal funds than their percentage of population. (3) A comparison of state and local expenditures with population reveals that 28 cities expend a lesser percentage of the state's total expenditures than their percentage of population. (4) A comparison of enrollment by target group with total enrollment reveals that 17 cities have a higher percentage of disadvantaged than their percentage of the state's total enrollment and 12 cities exceed in percentage of handicapped over the state's total enrollment.
