The DAMNED Children. A Layman's Guide to Forcing Change in Public Education.
Hobson, Julius W.
This pamphlet is concerned with the education that the poor and black receive from public schools. In particular, it looks at the practices of the Washington, D.C. public schools and concludes that the system values the education of its middle-class children more highly than the education of the poor. Whatever the indices--money spent, textbooks available, availability of honors programs, ability to read and write--the conclusion is the same. The more important point made in this pamphlet is that parents and citizens can change these discriminatory practices. Ways of finding out information are suggested. (Author/JW)
