A Drug Knowledge Inventory and Teacher's Guide.
McHugh, Gelolo; Williams, Jay C.
An opportunity to acquire information about addictive and habit-forming drugs and to understand the effects of drug abuse are presented in this Drug Knowledge Inventory and Discussion Guide. A self-testing and self-scoring approach is used to provide a climate for discussions that will further personal growth in making constructive behavioral choices about the use of drugs. Forty-one of the 44 items in the multiple choice inventory were selected on the basis of statistical studies using a 56 item trial edition. The trial edition was administered to 380 college undergraduates and 125 junior and senior high school students. It was developed through an extensive study of authoritative literature on addictive and habit-forming drugs. The discussion guide serves as a supplementary preparation aid, offering general and technical information in addition to suggestions for discussion. This is arranged question by question corresponding to the inventory. Instructions for uses of the instrument and procures for administering it are given. A bibliography of selected books and other resources for learning and teaching about addictive and habit-forming drugs completes the guide. (BL)
