Computer Sciences in Secondary Education.
Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, Paris (France). Centre for Educational Research and Innovation.
Speeches presented to an international seminar on computer science are reprinted. These aspects of computer science courses in secondary education are considered: the significance of including such courses in the curriculum; objectives and contents for such courses; the integration of computer courses with other school subjects; methods and techniques for teaching computer sciences, and teacher training for computer science education. From two to five essays on each of these topics are included; two describe ongoing programs--one in Canada and the other in England. Two background studies, one explaining a policy developed to train computer science teachers in Scotland and the other appraising equipment intended for use in secondary school computer science courses, complete the volume.
