UNISIST; Study Report on the Feasibility of a World Science Information System.
A description of the world science information system is given in this study report and the conclusion is reached that the establishment of such a system is not only necessary, but also feasible. The study is presented in four parts. The motivations for the study are developed in Part I which also deals with a recognition of the role of scientific and technical information as an international resource of vital importance to economic and cultural progress. The concept of a World Science Information System is discussed in Part II. Part III introduces a number of specific recommendations as practical objectives for the initiation of UNISIST. The last part of the report (Part IV) deals with the implementation of the project. The high-reaching, long-term ambitions of UNISIST are summarized in the final section. The report ends with a short glossary and an index. (A synopsis of this report is available as ED 050 752) (Author/NH)
