Persuasion Guide.
In this teacher's guide to the textbook called "Persuasion" the emphasis is on assisting the teacher to develop in his students the skills of critical and creative thinking. Each instructional unit moves from the experience of persuasive techniques, through critical analysis, to the creative practice of the technique in question. Essays on critical thinking and inductive learning preface the course material. Several films and television programs are listed to serve as samples for persuasion analysis and as useful tools in pre- and posttesting. A comparative media exercise is described to help students discover the basic strengths and weaknesses of different media. The appropriate printed, audio, and visual material to accompany each unit in the textbook are listed. A directory of film distributors, a guideline for film discussion, an essay on the ideas of Marshall McLuhan, and a guide to basic resources and teaching materials for communication education are also included.
