Computer Languages: A Practical Guide to the Chief Programming Languages.
Sanderson, Peter C.
All the most commonly-used high-level computer languages are discussed in this book. An introductory discussion provides an overview of the basic components of a digital computer, the general planning of a computer programing problem, and the various types of computer languages. Each chapter is self-contained, emphasizes those features of a language that can be used on more than one type of computer, and includes a set of exercises. The languages covered are: Algol 60, Fortran, Cobol, PL/1, and Extended Mercury Autocode. A short introduction to BASIC is also included. The book does not presume an extensive mathematics background. (JY)
