Resource Aid of Selected Materials for Remediation of Learning Disorders.

The resource guide helps formulate diagnostic profiles for children with specific learning disabilities, analyzes subsets of well-known batteries, and classifies materials to match areas of strength and weakness in learning. An adaptation of the Osgood model is used to identify and order the component abilities in learning. These component abilities are related to the curriculum areas of language arts and mathematics. In the Perceptual-Motor Chart, constituting Part 1, there are four columns: the first identifies and orders the component abilities in the learning process, the second suggests particular tests or subtests to indicate the strength or weakness of that particular function, the third suggests remedial instructional materials, and the fourth column is left vacant for teacher's evaluation of the success of the diagnostic prescription. Curriculum areas of reading, spelling, handwriting, and mathematics are represented in the chart. Part 2 presents bibliographic, price, content, and purpose information for the alphabetically listed tests and remedial instructional materials. Part 3, in addition to giving bibliographic information on available mathematics materials, contains analyses of mathematics skill areas and concepts to promote better understanding of the rationale of the instructional materials.
