The Script Network: Present Conditions and Suggestions. Information System for Vocational Decisions.
Roman, Richard Allan
The overall organization of the Information System for Vocational Decisions (ISVD) script network is diagrammed and each component described: (1) systems scripts which help determine what part of the system the inquirer wants to use; (2) CAI scripts designed to teach the inquirer things related to career choice; (3) preference scripts which help transform value preferences about criteria for work or school into concrete alternatives; (4) data scripts which allow direct exploration of the data bases; (5) templates which are similar to, but less specific than, the data retrieval scripts; and (6) access routines which represent various components of the ISVD paradigm of vocational decision-making and are designed to help the inquirer become conscious of himself as a decider. This paper reviews each of these, except the CAI scripts, and suggests improvements. (TL)
