Guidelines for Developing Programs in Agricultural Education for the 1970's.
Designed as a guideline for secondary schools, postsecondary vocational technical schools, adult programs, and 2-year colleges, this material should be of assistance to all persons responsible for implementing and administering new and on-going programs in agricultural education. Preparation of the guidelines was initiated at a national Office of Education seminar involving agriculture supervisors and teacher educators and they were later refined by committees and consultants. The primary objectives are to: (1) provide information enabling state directors of vocational agriculture and staffs of agricultural education to examine their role in initiating, administering, and coordinating local programs, (2) improve the education and training programs of students preparing for occupations in agriculture, (3) assist in developing special and innovative agricultural career programs, (4) develop agricultural programs for disadvantaged and handicapped, (5) improve the efficiency of the agricultural industry by helping develop competence and leadership of its manager and employees, and (6) strengthen ancillary services. These guidelines should be expanded and adapted for each state program. (GB)
