The two-cassette tape recordings in this set contain the proceedings of a session at the 1969 meeting of the American Association of the Advancement of Science. One of the two papers summarized the major results of a survey of the status of educational research and development in the United States in the Fiscal year 1968. The findings of the reviewers were discussed under three headings: goals and objectives of the research, organization of decision making, and management processes. Problems that need to be resolved were identified. The second paper described the role of the Committee on Basic Research in Education of the National Research Council, and provided examples of projects that were considered "basic research." A question session followed the presentations. (AL)
