This instrument is designed to measure teachers' subjective role expectations. The teachers are presented with 10 problem situations typical of those which are often encountered in the classroom. Each situation is followed by four alternative courses of action, representing four different roles, thus providing a total of 40 items. Each is to be rated as to its appropriateness in the given situation on a scale from +3 to -3. Each item, with one exception, correlates positively with one and only one of the following role factors: Counselor, Motivator, Referrer, and Disciplinarian. Means, standard deviations, reliabilities, and intercorrelations of the four role submeasures are available. See TM 000 281 for a report of the development of the instrument. (DG)
