Knowledge of the Scientific Process Attained by Prospective Elementary School Teachers.

Investigated was the knowledge of the scientific process of preservice elementary teachers in an undergraduate elementary education science methods course and comparison groups. The following conclusions were stated at the .05 level of significance: (a) no significant difference between preservice secondary social science teachers and preservice elementary teachers; (b) preservice elementary teachers were less knowledgeable than inservice and preservice secondary science teachers and research scientists; and (c) preservice elementary teachers were more knowledgeable than secondary school students.
