English Through Patterns; An Intensive Course in English Grammatical Structures for Students of English as a Second Language.
Howling, Robert T.; And Others
The 40 lessons in this text provide intensive and systematic instruction in the basic sentence patterns of English. They are intended for students who already have some acquaintance with English but whose command of the patterns is limited. The material represents an authorized revision and adaptation of lessons originally prepared at the English Language Institute of the University of Michigan. The present text is aimed specifically at Arabic-speaking students and is a final revision of materials used over a number of years in the English Language Program of the American University of Beirut. The 405 basic patterns presented are graded for difficulty and controlled in vocabulary; many of the exercises can be used for writing practice following the oral practice. (AMM)
